The Oji Group announced its support for the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD*) in December 2020, and is working on climate-related information disclosure recommended by the TCFD.
In December 2022, Oji Holdings joined the Japan Climate Initiative*1, which was established to strengthen the dissemination of information and exchange of opinions among companies, local governments, NGOs, and others actively working to address climate change.
As a member of various non-state actors such as corporations, local governments, and NGOs, we will continue our efforts to achieve net zero carbon emissions*2 by 2050, toward realizing a decarbonized society as required by the Paris Agreement.
The Japan Paper Association (JPA) belongs to the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren), which is one of the three major business associations in Japan. JPA promotes initiatives for the mitigation of and adaptation to climate change. JPA supported Keidanrenʼs Commitment to a Low Carbon Society in 2010, and formulated and announced JPAʼs Action Plan for Low-Carbon Society with a CO2 reduction target in 2012. Once a year, JPA announces the progress towards the achievement of the target.
As a member of JPA as well as Keidanren, Oji Holdings affirms the industry target and promotes measures for mitigating climate change to achieve the target by making investments related to energy conservation, and formulating and managing the progress of an action plan for saving energy. In addition, we exchange information and provide supports for making policy recommendations as a member of committees of JPA and Keidanren on climate change such as the environment and energy.
We have joined the 30by30 Alliance for Biodiversity, which was voluntarily launched by companies, local governments and organizations under the initiative of the Ministry of the Environment. This Alliance aims to “protect at least 30% of land and sea by 2030,” which was launched at the G7 Summit in June 2021. The Alliance members certify their owned or controlled lands as international OECM*, and expand and support protected areas.
